Times Are Changing For New Teachers

Client:
Times Educational Supplement

TSL Education approached CMS Professionals to pitch for the development of a portal for new teachers. Ultimately they awarded the contract to us (and design partner Mark Boulton Design) based on our knowledge and experience of developing Drupal-based products.

This New Teachers website provides news, advice, and support tools for its audience of student and newly qualified teachers.  In association TSL Education, we launched the site last week, and we're happy with it so far. However, this is only the beginning, TSL will be developing the site further over the next few months.

From a techie perspective, highlights include single sign-on integration across the TSL brands, which was achieved using web services from TSL , this also include the retrieval of jobs listings and resources from central TSL systems. Our key success was the bespoke development of the new TES school finder. This database contains thousands of records about schools and universities in the United Kingdom, presented in an easy-to-search format allowing the audience to link training institutions to associated schools.

A special mention should go to Mark and Co for the well thought out editorial and content journeys.

The site looks great, it's a first foray into Drupal for TSL Education, a previously entirely Microsoft outfit, and another success story for us. We hope you like it too.

The site is hosted at Rackspace by our friends at Ixis IT.

We are in the process of providing extensive patching to the Feedback module, to allow feedback storage mechanisms to be "pluggable". You can watch our progress here:

In fact, if you can test and review, we'd be very grateful.

We also gave Features and Panels the first big road test for a while, which was fun and allowed us to provide some feedback to both sets of developers.
